Why We Decided to Build Edventure

In recent years, there’s been a surge in online tutoring. More and more tutors are stepping into the digital world — but there’s a problem no one seems to be solving well.

While social media offers reach, it’s also crowded and chaotic. A tutor’s post can easily get lost among memes, lifestyle updates, and unrelated content. There’s no dedicated, focused space where a tutor’s professional profile can truly shine.

When we started building Edventure, we had two simple goals:

1. Give tutors a professional home online — a place where they can present themselves, showcase their classes, share their expertise, and grow their reputation.


2. Help students make informed choices — in Sri Lanka, finding a tutor often means relying on word of mouth. It’s hard to know a tutor’s background, teaching style, or qualifications before joining. With Edventure, we want students to see the bigger picture before making a decision.


Another issue we saw was with the current tools in Sri Lanka. Many platforms are built around commissions. That’s not inherently bad — they help you find students — but they come with a catch:
If you meet a student outside the platform and want to enroll them, track their performance, or manage your classes digitally, the platform still charges you a commission.

We wanted to change that.

Edventure is different.
Our focus is on helping tutors digitalize their classes — whether the student came from us or from outside. We want to empower tutors to manage their students, track performance, share materials, and grow — without being penalized for how they find their students.

Right now, our main mission is clear: make it easier for Sri Lankan tutors to bring their classes online, manage them seamlessly, and connect with students in a transparent way.

This is just the beginning.
